Another Birthday?
27 years ago today I entered the world. Granted I was in England - so perhaps technically it was 27 years ago yesterday...I can't really be sure. Most of the time I feel like I have accomplished a lot in those 27 years. Although often I think about how far I have left to go, how much I have to learn, and all that I have yet to achieve.
However, I can honestly say that I am happy. I have been lucky enough to find a kind, loving, and extremely supportive husband. And it goes without saying that Lily is a bright, beautiful, caring, challenging, awe inspiring little girl that teaches me so much every single day - Even if she did tell me today that she was going to eat all of my birthday cake. I have the most incredible friends and family that I love with all of my heart. I know it sounds cliche to say - but I would not, and could not make it through 1 single day, while maintaining even a small amount of sanity, without them. Thank you.
And Happy Birthday Stacie. I love that we get to share this day together every year - no matter where we are. Love you.

I've been reflecting on how much credit I can take for your current bliss and I have determined 2% because I'm a significant peripheral friend and because that's how much fat I like in my milk.
I love the idea of blogging. If I were able to commit to something substantial, I would first commit to Dirk and second to writing a blog because that's the second thing a stranger asks about you, after, "Are you on facebook?" My answers are "no" and "no," which must mean I've got a strong streak of anti-social tendencies.
I've also been reflecting on my grammar structure and I have noticed that so far I have used "because" 3 times in 4 sentences. I must conclude that I am seeking out causality in the world, which makes academia a perfect profession. If you haven’t already noticed, I’m suffering from a serious case of self-congratulatory-mania.
I’m sorry to use your blog for self-reflection, but I certainly can’t promise it won’t happen again.
hello my dear! i'm glad to see you've found a way to occupy your lily infused tv time...i personally really suck at keeping a blog with any substance and regularity. i have an incredibly boring life and am incredibly lazy! :) anyways...my whole reason for writing is to solely say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! i hope you had a wonderful day full of fun & many lily caused smiles...whatcha doing franny?? miss you all!

I understand that people often go by two names, using their first and middle names interchangeably. Your combination says to me that your parents were confident that you would grow up stronger if wickedly teased as a child. Nice to make your acquaintance Jim/Laure!
