The one eyed God

The goggle box, the boob tube,
the small screen...
I like tv
and here is why.

counting sheep

I can't sleep...it's not chronic, it's just annoying. I'm not sure why my gray matter chooses midnight as the prime time to start making lists and planning projects, but it does. Last night I lay awake thinking of mundane things like; mowing the lawn, carving pumpkins, wanting a scented candle for the living room (and what scent would I get? It's not really time for cranberry or spice yet...that's more of a winter scent), what I needed from the store (hand soap, fruit snacks, apples, aluminum foil...), what time I would need to leave the house on Monday in order to get to my midterm on time (4:30 - leaves time to drop Lily off with Andy and get to the testing center by 5:30). These things are not important, they are not extremely time sensitive in nature, they just eat away at me, at midnight.

I am Tired today

double double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and cauldron bubble....

Fall is here, and I love it. Cold mornings, sunny afternoons, and the best part...wool sweaters.
We are slowly acquiring a pumpkin patch of sorts in the front of our house. We have big ones, small ones, white ones, warty ones...you get the picture.

It all started last weekend at the Wheeler pumpkin patch in Oregon City. Nancy grows amazing pumpkins, and we have been watching them flourish all summer long. As it turns out, I went a little pumpkin crazy while we were choosing and we ended up bring a car load home.

On Tuesday we went to Heavenly Harvest which is a small family farm in Corvallis with the BEST pumpkin patch! We went on a hay ride, rolled around in some dry corn, drank some apple cider, and again, loaded up the car with our spoils.

Check back later for the pumpkins before and after transformation...

Found this Praying Mantis in the yard today. Isn't she gorgeous?
Note: Females have 6 segments composing the abdomen, Males have 8.

Are you kidding me?

So I realize the humor here is notably immature...but I couldn't help myself. I have been laughing about this photo all day. Thank you West Virgina Football!
(Dictionary.com: din·gle·ber·ry - Slang. a small clot of dung, as clinging to the hindquarters of an animal.)

Liquid perfection

There is nothing like the first rain. It is liquid perfection. It has only been a couple of weeks since the last rain, but since then, things have become dry and wilted. The rain began about an hour ago, and the smell is intoxicating.
The fresh scent lasts for such a brief time, just minutes really...and I feel that we should embrace the first rain, because it is just a matter of time before we shall be willing it to stop...
