Wall-E

We watched Wall-E last night, I think it was pretty good.
There were some good messages.
Peter Gabriel sang the song during the end credits.
Now all I can think of is this.

O' Christmas Tree

The weather on Saturday was amazing, and perfect for a Christmas tree hunt. We didn't have to go far. There is a great little Christmas tree farm just a couple of miles from the house.

(Lily and Daddy hunting trees)

You know how it goes when you are searching for the perfect tree, there are always the trees that look appear ideal until you get close enough to discover the flaws that they are cleverly disguising, not unlike the rest of us. And then the search starts over. It didn't take long to find our tree though. A seven foot tall Noble Fir was what we would be bringing home. I wanted a taller one, but they charge by the foot, so we had reached our limit.

(This is the one!)

(13 years old...a life cut short)

And now she sits proudly in the living room, wearing all sorts of twinkly lights, baubles, and mementos. Lily hung several ornaments on one branch (I moved them later, she hasn't noticed yet), and Stacy was here to help decorate the tree as well. We sang and danced (Lily did most of the dancing) along with some classic 80's Christmas music, and drank mimosas until we all went to bed by 11:00pm, because we are not as young as we used to be.

(Have you ever noticed that it's hard to photograph Christmas trees in all of their glory?)

Thank you little tree for making our Christmas special. We will water you, gaze at your adoringly, and plug in your pretty lights every day of the season.
